Synopsis

Crossing the Bridge communicates the joy and pain of being a systems thinking practitioner and provides a clear, non-technical and practical guide to how to start applying systems thinking ideas in an organisational setting.

Putting systems thinking into practice can be like crossing a precarious bridge. We never quite know when it is going to collapse below us. Even our best efforts can see us come up against unexpected challenges and obstacles. We need to practise, iterate, and practise again. It is often a jaunt into the unknown and part of our systems thinking practitioner skillset is to have trust in the journey.

Crossing the Bridge gives you insight into a systems thinking practitioner’s learning journey as she travels through the formative stages of her practice, up to developing her own style of embodying systems thinking. It takes you through a unique approach to Creating the Conditions for Change and gives you insights into some common challenges that systems thinking practitioners can come up against. Challenges that are often not spoken about and yet have proven to be common to many starting out on their journey.

Crossing the Bridge will help you to:

  • Understand another practitioner’s journey from the inside.
  • Learn how to embody systems thinking habits.
  • Gain wisdom and insights to help guide you on your way.
  • Gain inspiration and hope for developing your systems thinking practice.
  • Understand how to create the conditions for change.
This is a candid account of the highs and lows of a personal learning journey. At the same time, it will leave you with practical guidance and insights for putting systems thinking into practice.
