The genesis for this memoir was the death of our beloved dog, Max, a tough little guy. Rescued from certain death by my wife twelve years ago, he was a gentle, loving dog, adored by all.
What is it about dogs which endear them so? I interviewed the members of our extended family and heard time and again about their dogs-- always there, always glad to see them, and it hit me, dogs provide unconditional love.
We spent seven years training service dogs and Elaine trained Max to be a therapy dog, acquiring a national certification. What wonderful stories we can tell about those experiences
It was so hard watching Max journey across the Rainbow Bridge, but writing this memoir has helped me cope with his loss. I hope you enjoy the stories and have a better feeling for how important dogs are to their owners.
