Did you know that the oldest university in the world was founded by a North African woman over 1,000 years ago? Learn more about how she migrated with her family to Fes before building a renowned university to accommodate large numbers of refugees and migrants that moved to Morocco in this wonderful book!
‘Fatima Al-Fihri – Founder of the world’s oldest university’ is a biography for children about the woman who set up the oldest university in the world.
Written and published independently by Young Trees Education, the book features outstanding illustrations by Emanuel Colban.
History is filled with people who have had a positive impact on the world, but whose stories are known by so few. Our Story is made up of their stories, and through learning about them we can aspire to reach our own potential and leave a bright and lasting legacy.
This is a 40 page children’s book which includes questions, a craft activity, glossary and pronunciation guide, as well as a QR code linking to further information about the University of Al-Qarawiyyin for our young readers to interact with.
We are also delighted to have partnered with CAMFED to provide one day of schooling for a young girl in Africa with each book purchased.
