I had it all planned. Didn’t you? Life would be a straight line. We would map out an epic journey, moving step by step onward and upward to the soundtrack of applause from a legion of admirers. Something happened though. Our masterpiece of a life was imperiled by menacing cannonades from advancing storm clouds, then seemingly annihilated by those 50,000 degree thunderbolts: the accident, the test results, the divorce, the betrayal, the ghosting, the estrangement.
How do we make it through the squalls, make effective decisions to re-group, find help from someone somewhere? Is it possible even to survive the storm and then the next and then the next? Is there a lifeboat to take us to a warm and comforting shore where we can resettle and thrive?
Through narrative poems and essays, explore the trek with me, Roy Roberts, a fellow traveler who hikes, sometimes with a limp, and finds himself wrestling thunderbolts.
