Synopsis
Family drama is always hard to stomach. It can ruin holiday gatherings, add strain to life’s milestones, and wear us down over time. Watching loved ones hurt each other with bad behavior is disheartening. One can rationalize it when people are younger and immature, but what should you do when people who should know better behave sinfully? And how do you correct the wrong thinking that justifies wrong behavior? These were the sorts of questions Timothy faced while leading the Ephesian church. The church is a spiritual family; even here, family drama can happen.
God has a beautiful design for His church. A family—brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers—walking alongside each other as we hold on to gospel truth in the chaos of this world. The book of 1 Timothy speaks to these truths. And if each of us submits to them, our church will function as the loving family God intends. One that beautifully represents the truth of God’s merciful plan of salvation through Jesus.
