A modern era in molecular genetics has started, that also awakened the need for the ethics of the future. The Selfish Gene of Richard Dawkins has died and the GenZ will shape a new world for all of us.
This is a short essay based on an unpublished book of the same author; introduction to The Evolutionary Ethics developed by Mikolaj Kuca.
We remember the scandalous book "The Selfish Gene". In 1976 it caused a lot of controversy; many authorities raised their objection. With time, however, the ideas contained in that book were recognized as correct and for several decades they serve as a base for an atheistic understanding of the world. “The ethics of evolution” is going few steps forward. It was the beginning of genetics when Richard Dawkins formulated the theory of genes. Watson and Crick had just figured out the structure of the DNA, and we started identifying the first genes. When I entered my education in the 90s, molecular genetics was only in its infancy. Working with the eminent professor Eperon, I realized that genes are not the basis of our existence. Together with the professor, we have repeatedly proved that although there is a lot of information stored at the DNA, it is not sufficient to precisely define a human being. Our genes are only a pool of opportunities that we can draw from. However, it is our environment and our decisions that determine which genes we choose to use and which ones remain disabled. It was interesting, but it was only the introduction of the mRNA vaccine and the CRISPR technology that made my discovery from 20 years ago take on a new meaning. New technologies of molecular genetics, introduced at a rapid pace due to the COVID-19 epidemic, gave us the possibility of almost unlimited modification of our gene pool. And I do not mean humanity in general, but each person individually. Thus, the supremacy of genes was finally abolished and the Richard Dawkins theory ceased to have scientific justification in terms of value-system. At the same time, a wider phenomenon emerges, initially defined only by genetic evolution, and, following my initiative, considered much more broadly: the phenomenon of evolution of ideas. In this book, you will learn not only about the never published alternative approach to ethics, but you will also understand the rules that govern the world, and thus realize why the world is evolving in such way, and you might be even able to predict some of the future. Feel free to read it, and if you find it as fascinating as I hope it is, the full version of this book will be published soon.
