Less than twelve hours after his promise to protect Shango, Antlion unceremoniously dumps the young boy into the care of his subordinates.
Yet again, Shango finds himself surrounded by people he doesn't know, in a situation he cannot control. But this time, answers are forthcoming. How did the world begin? How did the last one end? Who, or what, is the man called Antlion?
However, the new world is not so different. Enemies reveal themselves and force Antlion to return to what he once was. Not as a soldier or a man, but as something once feared for hunting down the gods of the new world.
Little by little, the lives of Shango and Antlion become inextricably linked.
