Johnston Hong Chung Wong , Professor in Applied Psychology, started his career as a youth worker in Hong Kong. His early academic interests focused on youth development, counseling, and family life education, branching out to psychological stress, unemployment, and industrial social services. In Hong Kong, he participated in various district and central government committees related to youth policies, education, social care, healthcare financing andhospital governance. Since 2005 he has been involved in many post-disaster social work and psychological interventions and become the non-executive director of the Social Workers Across Borders. In 2006 he joined UIC as a Faculty member and helped to design the Service Learning Scheme and Emotional Intelligence Programs as parts of Whole Person Education. Later he was appointed the Chief of Student Affairs to strengthen the Personal Development and Counseling Center (PGCC). He taught courses like Management, Society and Life, Government and Society, Social Management Laws of China, Disaster and Emergency Management, Healthcare Social Work, Social Group Work, and Crisis Interventions. Recently his research interests included Services for Older People, Social Indicators and Social Integration, Healthy Villages and Cities, Social laws in China, Disaster and Healthcare social work, Distant counseling services, and Welfare Informatics. He has published eight books, co-edited one book, eighteen book chapters, and twenty-seven journal articles related to disaster intervention, student affairs in higher education, and services for older people. He received the International Crisis Intervention Leadership Award from ICISF and the Presidential Award from ACPA while being recognized as one of the Outstanding Young Persons in 1990 by TOYPA.
Poshan (Sam) Yu is a Chinese-Australian professional with an astonishingly diverse background and an extensive collection of remarkable accomplishments. In the academic sphere, he currently teaches at the University of Victoria Program at Soochow University. Previously, he held the position of an external professor of financial technology and finance at SKEMA Business School. He also serves as a visiting researcher at the Australian Studies Centre of Shanghai University, a guest professor at emlyon business school China, and an adjunct faculty member at George Washington University's master (finance) program at Renmin University of China. As a visiting professor at Krirk University in Thailand and an EU-Asia research coordinator at the European Business Institute in Luxembourg, he brings a truly global perspective to his teaching and research activities.
