Synopsis
In Elyria, Ohio—my hometown, a small, worn-down suburb of Cleveland—each day melts into the next with an unremarkable grayness that feels as if it's pressing down on the town's shoulders. The streets, lined with tired houses and cracked sidewalks, echo with the footsteps of teens like me trying to navigate the complexities of adolescence against the backdrop of a town that seems to have forgotten how to dream.
Being a teenager like any other in this working class town, life in Elyria is a constant struggle to find my place in a world where fitting in feels like an impossible puzzle. With my dad working long hours and my older sisters wrapped up in their own battles, I often find myself lost in the shuffle, seeking solace in the pages of my sketchbook, paintings, and the worn-out copies of my favorite books.
But when I cross paths with a group of cool misfits on skateboards, I soon discover a sense of belonging I never thought possible.
