Synopsis

Life beyond the gods is my personal “examined life” story of my geographical, back-in-time, intellectual, and emotional journey to answer some of the existential questions about my life in the universe and on planet Earth. I explore the work and thought involved in developing a worldview that is so different from the blank slate we are born with and the worldview imposed by religion, mythology, and ideology during the early years of our lives.

It is also a story about the journeys that many humans undertake to pursue purpose, search for answers to difficult existential questions, and incrementally advance human development and society during their lives.

I introduce fellow Life Travellers to places of religious significance, writers, philosophers, scientists, and contributors to the development of society who have helped me explore religions, human organising practices, philosophies, mythologies, ideologies, spiritualities, science, and revolutions in society.

In the final chapters, I share my worldview, which has been shaped by my journeys, readings, observations, rich conversations, and intense experiences. I encourage my fellow Life Travellers to think about and shape their own worldviews.

The book closes by proposing a Guide for society, introduced in seven major languages to signal its validity for a global society rather than the usual limited regional or cultural application. The guide is for every fellow life traveller instead of the doctrines contained in the Vedas of Hinduism, the Torah of Judaism, the Bible of Catholic and Protestant Christianity, the Quran of Islam, the Dharma of Buddhism, and the forefathers of the Ancestor Worshippers.
