What does it mean to be human in a world where minds can touch minds? In this final installment of the Echoes of Earth trilogy, we explore humanity’s next great evolutionary leap: telepathy. But such advancement rarely comes without cost. History has shown us that power whether technological, political, or biological, never distributes itself evenly across society. The emergence of telepathy would likely follow this pattern, creating a divide between the enhanced and unenhanced. The Harry and Genie series has always been about exploring these fundamental questions of human nature and evolution. While much of science fiction focuses on military conflict, about 80% of the genre by current estimates, I wanted to probe deeper into what makes us human. This is why I created Genie, an advanced female android, as Harry’s companion for
their seven-year journey. Beyond the practical considerations of food storage and life support, their relationship allows us to examine humanity through both human and artificial eyes.
In this book we’ll discover that evolution whether biological, technological, or spiritual, rarely follows the paths we expect. For Genie, the meaning of evolution may prove quite different than it does for her human counterparts. As we conclude this journey with Harry and Genie, I invite you to join me in asking: What if?
