Mantrailing, which is the search for people based on an individual scent, represents a slightly different training method. The handler utilizes the dog’s innate ability to track scent trails, without trying to impose a "human" perspective. Instead, a deep respect is established for the dog, aiming to understand and collaborate with it so that it can meet the expectations: finding a missing person.
Not everyone is capable of training their pet to the point of enabling it to successfully conduct a search for missing people. However, for many dog enthusiasts, it represents a rewarding experience in terms of the joy that comes from building a meaningful partnership with their dog. During mantrailing training, the bond between handler and dog is strengthened, leading to a better understanding of the four-legged companion.
