Synopsis

An all inclusive society is what we desire.
The HIV/AIDS pandemic has been with us for a long time now but it still ails the mighty and the humble alike. The disease has not only given mankind suffering but also has shown the world how much alike we all are in being susceptible. Even then, stigma and discrimination continue to mar the efforts to control the disease.
This NACO funded project provided us an opportunity to understand the extent of prevalence of stigma and discrimination among PLHIVs and those who are key population, namely, Men having sex with men (MSMs), Female Sex Workers (FSWs), Injection Drug Users (IDUs) and Transgenders (TGs) but not yet afflicted by HIV. The findings in the field have been heart-wrenching and the situation calls out to all those who care to extend a hand of support to these individuals. Healthcare and educational institutions which are care-giving and knowledge centres need to emphasize on strengthening a non-judgemental outlook among the citizens of our country and also within their capacities. So that this dream of an all inclusive, tolerant and supportive society turns into a reality in future.
The stories in the field that the book includes will give insights into the lives of these individuals and give hopes for those wanting to overcome all odds. Let us all work towards inclusion!
