When a VR launch turns into a one-way life sentence, a flawed healer and their anarchic kitten must drive a living game world to collapse or rewrite itself - and decide whether escape is worth the friends they’ll lose.
Emmara Gates wanted one night of escape. Instead she gets a second life - literally. When Prestige Online launches, the collector’s editions log their players into a world that refuses to let them go. What starts as a gleeful immersion becomes a trap when a system message turns their home into a cage: "Do not log out. This is now your home."
Emmara’s consolation is Nyx, a kitten familiar who is charming, immortal - and terrifyingly anomalous. Teaming with a ragged party of strangers, she scrapes XP and gold by the rules they’re forced to obey, until an archmage reveals the world’s secret: Arl Doni is a looped construct, and their presence has unlocked an Exit Code that can either reset everything or - if they can force the Rune of Iteration properly - rewrite the game’s reality forever.
Now Emmara must channel a chaotic power she neither chose nor understands to anchor a rewrite, buy precious seconds, and survive an emergent, system‑born sentinel that will delete anyone who touches the architecture. The party will fracture, the gods will notice, and one sacrifice will make the difference between freedom and eternal reset. Who deserves to live in the world that remains?
