Synopsis
The Kid is a bitter sweet, present day, urban western, that follows the story of a fifteen year old runaway known only as 'the kid', who heads west out of London, to escape an abusive, alcoholic father. Eventually finding himself in Bristol, he tries to carve out a new life for himself, in what he discovers is a constantly unforgiving environment, while the past refuses to leave him alone. In Emily, he finds his first love, but soon realises that happiness, at least for him, doesn't ever come without its fair share of heartache.
Inspired by the works of Cormac McCarthy and William Faulkner, this unique, coming of age, debut novel, is a brutal and beautiful book that you'll not want to put down, and a journey you'll never forget.
