To everyone near and far, those in the city with bright lights and those in the village under moonlight, listen well. A story is about to rise again, like old smoke from the bottom of a cold pot.
Set in Eha-Amufu, a quiet town in Enugu State where the forests are deep and the soil remembers every footstep, this tale is rooted in ancient truths. The people there respect their ancestors, honour masquerades, and fear anything without a name.
They say:
“If the elder dies in the morning, the rain will cry until the next day.”
There, deep in Ogalonye forest, lives "THE NAMELESS", a secret cult that gave up their names to escape sorrow. They chose silence over suffering.
But when a strange child named Obianuju is born during the dark eclipse, the silence begins to break. Though mute at first, she starts speaking names no one has taught her, names that should never return.
The forgotten begin to rise.
The land starts to bleed.
And Obianuju walks where no child should.
She does not join "THE NAMELESS".
She unmasks them.
