Forests regulate the global climate, support biodiversity, and sustain ecosystem services, but remain threatened by the impacts of climate change. Changing temperatures, altered precipitation patterns, and extreme events interact with ecological processes to influence forest health and stability. By examining the dynamics of forest ecosystems, the disturbances they face, like wildfires, pests, droughts, and storms, and their capacity for resilience and recovery, researchers can identify areas most at risk and inform adaptive management strategies. This field integrates ecological data, climate projections, and risk assessment frameworks to guide policies and practices that enhance forest resilience in a changing environment. Forest Vulnerability and Climate Risk Assessment: Dynamics, Disturbances, and Resilience explores how climate change influences forest ecosystems by affecting their structure, function, and susceptibility. It examines the dynamics of forest vulnerability and resilience to assess climate-related risks and to inform strategies for sustainable forest management and ecosystem adaptation. This book covers topics such as forest ecosystems, soil erosion modeling, and watershed management, and is a useful resource for engineers, academicians, researchers, and environmental scientists.

Dr. Said Moukrim is an agricultural engineer and researcher specializing in ecology and natural resource management. He holds a PhD in Biological Sciences from Mohammed V University in Rabat, focusing on the impact of climate change on Moroccan forest ecosystems. His research applies species distribution modeling to assess ecological responses of key forest species. Currently a professor at Mohammed V University in Rabat, Dr. Moukrim previously worked at the Moroccan Department of Water and Forests at the Moroccan Department of Water and Forests. He has contributed to national and international studies on forest resilience. His work spans climate change adaptation, forest restoration, and land degradation. He has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and international conferences. He also trains researchers and officials in forest management and climate resilience. He is also an active member of CEMED (Center of Experts ‘Mastery’ for Studies and Development), contributing to research and development initiatives.
Dr. Saïd Lahssini is a professor of higher education specializing in forest management and inventory. He holds a PhD in Forest Management from the Université catholique de Louvain, Belgium, and has nearly 24 years of experience in forestry research, digitalization, and training engineering. Currently, he teaches at the National School of Forestry Engineers (ENFI) in Morocco, where he leads courses on forest inventory, afforestation, growth modeling, and forest productivity. He has also contributed as a consultant for organizations such as FAO, GIZ, and UNDP, focusing on ecosystem restoration, biodiversity mapping, and climate change adaptation. His expertise includes geospatial technologies, data science applications in forestry, and the integration of digital tools for environmental monitoring. Dr. Lahssini has authored numerous scientific publications and actively participates in international conferences on forestry and environmental sustainability.
