Synopsis

This book is the development of a chapter from my previous book, God (Word Books, 2000) which was published as a volume in the Swindoll Leadership Library series. Writing on the subject of “God” was a deeply rewarding experience for me. In my book, God, I devoted a chapter to the topic of God's self-revelation to Moses (Exodus 34:6-8) which took place while the Israelites were camped at Mount Sinai. I discovered as I worked on this chapter that Exodus 343:6-8 is the only place in the Bible where God actually lists and describes his own attributes. It is as if God is introducing himself to Moses and the people of Israel whom he had recently delivered from their 430 years of bondage in Egypt.

I have always wanted to go back and dig deeper into this classic theological text which echoes throughout Scripture but is often overlooked in standard systematic theologiies. Twenty-five years has passed since I first investigagted this text for my book, God. And now in my retirement, I have returned to explore the nine things that God says about himself in his self-revelation to Moses. If you want to get to know God better, I think you will find this little book both helpful and practical. Questions at the end of each chapter are provided for personal reflection and group study.
