Alistair Newman, a music producer is a curious and very wealthy art collector of the musical variety. When his neglected wife gifts him a curious cd of a song that was only rumoured to exist, it isn’t long before he becomes obsessed by the song’s crude, hideous melody.

Why did the song’s writer and singer kill himself? Is there really only one copy in existence? Why did his wife, neglected and abused get it for him?
