Most kids spent the summer of 1985 at the beach. We spent ours fighting the laws of physics.
In the quiet suburbs of Islip Terrace, Long Island, the silence was rarely kept. It was usually shattered by the scream of a circular saw, the arc of a welder, or the roar of a salvaged lawnmower engine reaching its breaking point.
On Woodcliff Road, four friends—the Architect, the Hands, the Logistics Chief, and the Payload—transformed a typical backyard into a rogue engineering firm. Guided by a slide rule and an abundance of reckless curiosity, the Woodcliff Design Crew set out to conquer land, air, and sea using little more than scavenged parts and neighborhood scrap.

The Three-Tree Fortress: A command center suspended thirty feet in the air, accessible only by a washing-machine-drum elevator.
