From the interdisciplinary field of Human Geography, Nina and Eva present their first co-written work for readers who live in-between and refuse categories and binaries. This hybrid of personal and theoretical reveals the intertwining nature of lived experiences and academic theories, showing that the two are co-creative of our realities. The book spans across genres to interpret intersectional approaches to doing research in social studies through a variety of mediums – poetry, photography, and life-writing.
Radical creativity is the roadmap of this book which addresses the importance of human imagination and agency, as well as the danger of letting others interpret and reflect upon things for us. Walking through the ideas of thinkers such as Donna Haraway, bell hooks and Joseph Beuys, this book reflects theories of the seemingly-so-detached academia in our own experiences and difference understood in ways, both inclusive and contextualized.
This book is a manifesto, a call for academia to acknowledge the ideas embedded in its foundation, to turn inwards and question how far away we really are from the texts in the books we read and the media we consume.
Liminality of Difference is accompanied by a visual journey through the project of artlitgeo.com and goes hand-in-hand with Nina and Eva’s podcast – The Lines.
