Synopsis
What a pleasure it is in an era of one unclad emperor after another of the "postmodern" academy's evasions and obliquities, to come on a writer who addresses things that actually matter in a book of poems! John Michael Flynn speaks of real and recognizable locales: their dreams and their anxieties are - to use a word now sniffed at by the tenure hounds - universal in their relevance. I recommend his work to all readers, not just so-called specialists in poetry.
