Synopsis
Melody Deathless is in trouble. Having spent her life with no memory of the day her brother disappeared, she's used to a merciless world that doesn't care for poor little orphan werewolves-the only exception being this waitress's most peculiar regular. Smith Rosemont, a lawyer for the Lich in the woods, and someone she'd like to sink her fangs into, has for the last three years sat in her section just to order pancakes and talk.
After Melody is chased out of the city by eldritch beasts with no memory of who wants her dead, Smith's the only witness. The Slender takes her to the safest place he can think of, Rosemont Manor.
Nestled in the Haunted Forest outside King's Fall, the pair try to unravel the plot to kill Melody. Smith will have to use all his wisdom to unmask who is pulling the puppet strings while trying not to devour the woman he's been obsessed with for years. There is more bloody history at Rosemont Manor than anyone realized as the past that Smith kept locked away comes bubbling up to the surface. Melody will have to accept that she's found herself in the middle of a vicious game of cat and mouse.
With Melody's life hanging in the balance, Smith will stop at nothing to keep her safe-including face the very mistake that took him from his home in The Endless Woods and landed him in a contract with Sebastian Rosemont. They'll have to hunt down more than each other to solve this mystery. Who better to find the heart he left behind, than a little lost werewolf?
