Synopsis

Malicious Intentions: Secrets in the Shadows is a dark romance novel centred on Eleanor Sinclair, a woman trapped in a volatile and increasingly dangerous marriage to a powerful politician and businessman whose influence extends far beyond what she understands. Her husband, William, maintains covert ties to Jamaican businessman Andrew, a man deeply embedded in criminal and political networks. When a territorial dispute over strategic routes in Jamaica escalates, Andrew's operations target William and his circle of allies, triggering a chain of retaliatory moves that push everyone closer to exposure and collapse. As tensions rise between power brokers operating in the shadows, William is forced into a position of resistance, determined to safeguard himself and his family from Andrew's expanding reach. Meanwhile, Eleanor remains isolated within a carefully controlled aristocratic marriage, positioned at the centre of a conflict she cannot fully see.

About this title

About the Author

Shanique J. Thompson is an emerging Jamaican author whose writing spans several genres, including children's fantasy, psychological thrillers and inspirational nonfiction. Her work draws on imagination, Jamaican heritage and an interest in human behaviour, with stories that explore the choices people make and the consequences that follow.

Her first book, Evil Intentions, marked the beginning of her journey as an author. She has since expanded her catalogue with The Giddy House Adventure, Book One of a historical fantasy series for readers aged 9-12. Inspired by the history of Giddy House and Port Royal, Jamaica, the story introduces young readers to friendship and adventure while sharing an appreciation for Jamaica's heritage in a way that readers of different ages can enjoy.

In The Magic Pencil of Kingston Harbour, Thompson takes readers into a magical adventure set in Jamaica. The story explores the dangers of accepting things without asking questions and the hidden costs that may come with gifts that appear to be free.

Thompson also writes for adult audiences through her Malicious Intentions thriller series. The series examines manipulation, deception, power and the darker side of human nature through suspenseful storytelling. She continues the story with Malicious Intentions: Truth Beyond the Shadows, Part Two of the series.

Her nonfiction title, Dreams Left Behind, Life Ahead, is a short, inspirational book about recognising when certain goals no longer serve a purpose and finding the courage to pursue a different direction. It encourages readers to reconsider their ambitions and remain open to personal growth.

As a Jamaican author, Thompson continues to develop her work across genres while bringing her own perspective and imagination to the stories she tells.
