Synopsis

Hezame was supposed to start college, study journalism, and finally live on his own terms. Instead, he learns the truth behind the eye-shaped birthmark on his neck: years ago, his parents made a pact with a lwa for a child, and now he belongs to Erzul-a 997-year-old spirit with a pulsing black-heart pendant, flawless cheekbones, and absolutely no respect for boundaries.

Erzul moves into his dorm like a storm wrapped in silk and shadows, calling him beloved, stealing his bed, and scaring away anyone who looks twice. Hezame swears he wants nothing to do with the ancient being haunting his life... until the line between curse and comfort begins to blur.

But some bargains don't end at eighteen. And the closer Erzul's thousandth year approaches, the more dangerous Hezame's feelings become.

Rooted in Haitian-inspired spiritual folklore, Betrothed to a Devil is a paranormal romance filled with dangerous devotion, sharp humor, emotional slow burn, and the terrifying intimacy of being truly seen.

About the Author

Scutt-Lee is a hobbyist writer with a passion for crafting emotionally rich BL (Boys' Love) novellas and novelettes that blend heartfelt depth with moments of lighthearted charm. Writing under this pen name, Scutt-Lee explores the wide spectrum of human experience-sometimes diving deep into pain, trauma, and the quiet resilience of healing, other times lifting readers up with witty banter, sarcasm, and warm, cheerful moments that glimmer like sunlight after a storm.

With a storytelling style that walks the line between raw emotion and playful humor, Scutt-Lee creates characters who are flawed, complex, and deeply human-characters you'll root for, cry with, and laugh beside. Whether the story leans dark and introspective or shines with brightness and hope, each piece is written with honesty, care, and a love for emotional storytelling.

When not writing, Scutt-Lee enjoys exploring new interests, observing the world with a quiet curiosity, and getting lost in the dramas-both on screen and on the page-that inspire her unique narrative voice.
