Synopsis
Rod Graham is an Australian veterinarian and author whose warmth, humour, and insight have made his storytelling instantly relatable to anyone who has ever loved an animal. Over a long career that began in the horse country of the Yarra Valley and led to small-animal practice in inner-city Melbourne, Rod has collected a lifetime of encounters with creatures great and small-and with the people who care for them.
Through his fictional alter ego, Dr Rob McBride, Rod shares tales that are tender, funny, and deeply human, capturing the quiet heroism and occasional chaos of life in veterinary practice. His writing has been compared to that of James Herriot, yet its voice is unmistakably Australian-earthy, compassionate, and full of understated wit.
When he's not writing, Rod still practises as a vet, tending to his patients and drawing inspiration from their stories. Snippets of a Vet's Life is his first collection in a planned series celebrating the bonds between people and their animals.
