No one ever arrived at a destination without first experiencing a journey, and all journeys begin with a thought, and plan. No one can arrive at their intended destination if they weren't first committed to the journey. For every journey ever taken, there were connecting points along the way to mark the progression of the trip.
I once had a thought about a place I wanted to go, but before I got to that place, I had to take the journey. There would be connecting points along my trip, and those connecting points guided me. They made the trip easier. Hastened me along. My journey began on a hazy, hot summer day in June 1985, and I arrived at the destination in January 1986. The destination? On January 24th, 1986 at the age of sixteen, I barely survived discharging a firearm into myself on purpose. It was literally a life, to suicide march. I had an intended purpose, and it was a journey to get there.
With only a few minutes left to survive after the weapon was discharged, I had to pivot my life towards another destination. I had to take another trip, to arrive at another destination, this time it was a destination that would hopefully lead towards rescue, and life. I wanted to live! I realized I regretted suicide, and I was willing to fight to live. For every journey ever taken, there were connecting points along the way to mark the progression of the trip. From suicide to life, five keys, and five doors led the way.
If you have found my story, and are on a familiar path, please reconsider. Please consider this story as a conversation from someone who was there, and someone who cares about anyone who is on that march. This book is no substitute for professional counseling, it's a sincere story in hopes it can help someone.
