Synopsis

Living in the Memory is Book Two and the sequel to Living in the Unknown, Caribbean Way. It follows the British-born and Windrush generations as they come of age in Britain from the 1960s through to the 1990s, exploring their social experiences, relationships, struggles, and search for purpose and acceptance.

During the 1970s and 1980s, the lives of the Diamond Ladies transform as they gain prominence, pursue new careers and embrace new relationships. But one question remains: did they really leave the raving scene behind?

Amid discrimination and the fight for equality, clubbing and house parties provided an escape through music, friendship and culture. Carmel and Richard take on a more positive role in the community, supporting the Black Caribbean community and standing against discrimination.

Living in the Memory is a story of identity, resilience, community and a generation determined to create a better future while remembering its roots.
