Synopsis

She never thought she'd have to face her husband's death twice. She was wrong.

Connie Keyes has finally found some peace. After refining her capacity to communicate with ghosts and embracing her intuitive talents, she's reconciled to spending her days helping confused wayward spirits. But her new life changes in an instant after a friend is falsely accused of murder...

Certain her buddy committed the act in self-defense, Connie worries something ominous could be pulling shady strings. But when a sinister force abducts her talking cat and sets its sights on her ghost husband, the purposeful existence she worked so hard to create turns into a living nightmare.

Can this caring woman bring back her loved ones and restore justice before her world shatters?

Fooled by the Friend is the spine-tingling third book in the Extra-Ordinary Midlife Mysteries series and the last book before the spin-off series Mystic on the Rocks. If you like heroines reinventing themselves, slightly scary situations, and a little snark, then you'll love Lynn M. Stout's paranormal mystery.

This book was originally published as Dead Locks by Lynn M. Stout.

About this title

About the Author

Lynn M. Stout grew up wandering the streets of Historic Downtown Jonesboro, Tennessee where she absorbed the town's rich history, fed her active imagination, and twisted her ankle on cobblestones.

She is an unapologetic voyeur when it comes to old houses and has an unhealthy obsession with creepy staircases. She loves research and enjoys a deep dive into old stories, especially if a ghost is involved.

She is married to her amazing and supportive husband of thirty years and is happy to report that she still likes him very much.

As a recent empty-nester, she is finding adventure in Michigan and is pleasantly surprised to find that her southern roots don't object to cooler weather at all.

She enjoys long walks with the Boxer, cuddling with her freakishly large cats, a good bottle (or two) of wine, and will continue to love Tennessee Volunteer Football no matter how bad it gets.
