Dr. Dooley has been on a quest for four decades to archive and answer questions about his paternal great grandparents of rural Atchison County, Kansas. The families emigrated in the 19th century from Ireland, Ontario, Austria, and Bavaria. Highlights include prominent civic leaders and innkeepers in Bavaria, military service on both sides of the Atlantic, a French officer under Napoleon, Wehrmacht officers in WWII, fermenters of wine and beer, Catholic nuns and priests, business owners, farmers, art collectors, and the use of DNA profiles to confirm and broaden family tree records.
The primary emphasis is on the ancestry and relatives of James Dooley and wife Catherine Hurley, and John Kramer and wife Philippina Rambour, all of whom resided in Atchison County, Kansas.
