But the same oracle that records the weeping issues the restraining order of heaven: Thus saith the LORD; Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the LORD; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy. And there is hope in thine end, saith the LORD, that thy children shall come again to their own border (Jeremiah 31:16-17).
THEY SHALL COME AGAIN!!! That is the thesis of this entire book pronounced at its gate. The scattered shall be gathered, the stolen shall be restored, the halved shall be doubled, and the borders shall receive their children. From this Ramah of honest tears we now rise and walk seven chapters home — through Nature, Picture, Structure, Architecture, Infrastructure, Nomenclature, and Future — until the God of Jacob wipes away all tears from all eyes and the gathering of all things is complete in Christ.
