INTENTO is a human-readable programming language designed around a simple idea: code should express intention clearly, while still being precise enough to execute.
The name is Italian. The syntax is English. The purpose is universal: to reduce the distance between what a human wants to do and what a computer can safely execute.
INTENTO is not free natural language. It is not a chatbot prompt. It is not a poetic layer over vague commands. INTENTO is a real programming language proposal, built on controlled human readability. Its instructions are meant to look natural, but they must follow deterministic rules. A line of INTENTO code should be understandable to a person and parseable by a machine.
This balance defines the project.
Many programming languages are powerful but intimidating. They require the programmer to think in symbols, structures, libraries, syntax rules, runtime behavior, and error models before they can express even simple intentions. INTENTO does not reject those technical realities. Instead, it tries to organize them in a more readable form.
