In August 1987, authorities reached a quiet property near Lake Eildon and found something harder to frame than a crime scene: children, names, documents, and a private world built around adult power. At the center stood Anne Hamilton-Byrne, the public face of The Family, a woman whose claimed maternal authority would leave the record asking what childhood means when identity itself becomes evidence.
