Pablo Palacio was an outsider in early 20th century Ecuador. His weird, twisted, ironic stories were a striking contrast to the various modes of realism being explored by other authors. His work is remembered in Ecuador, but outside the country he remains largely undiscovered.
This collection contains the best of his short fiction. This is the first time his work has been available in English translation. If you love Kafka, Borges, Poe, you will find much to enjoy in A Man Kicked to Death and Other Strange Tales.
