Synopsis
Travel writer Nina Everden boards a suspiciously cheap Mediterranean cruise expecting five days of sunshine, sightseeing and enough bad buffet material to keep her editor happy.
By the following morning, the ship is still in Barcelona.
And by the morning after that, it is still in Barcelona.
Paradise Promises Travel insists everything is under control. The cancelled ports are merely an enhanced itinerary. The compensation comes in vouchers nobody remembers accepting. The complaints keep mysteriously closing themselves.
Then somebody steals the captain's dog.
Before Nina knows it, she has acquired an unlikely investigation team: retired teachers Jan and Mo Tresswell, luxury influencer Tabitha Wensley, anxious accountant Ollie Fawcett, and irritatingly calm risk consultant Alec Cavell, who seems to know far more about corporate disasters than any ordinary passenger should.
As the holiday descends from disappointing to gloriously absurd, Nina begins comparing screenshots, refund offers and suspiciously careful wording.
