Synopsis
Thomas Pearson vient d'être retrouvé mort aux abords du lycée, probablement assassiné. Les enquêteurs investissent l'internat et entament une série d'interrogatoires. Après avoir longuement hésité, Reed et Josh, le camarade de chambre de Thomas, choisissent de révéler à la police les activités illégales auxquelles se livrait le garçon. Cette décision les rapproche, et ils deviennent peu à peu amis. Reed découvre en Josh un garçon adorable, et s'aperçoit avec horreur qu'elle est en train de tomber amoureuse de lui. Peut-elle remplacer Thomas si vite ? N'est-ce pas trahir sa mémoire que de sortir avec son meilleur ami ? Les Billings voient cette aventure d'un mauvais oeil et distillent progressivement d'inquiétantes informations à Reed : Josh souffrirait de schizophrénie et aurait quitté son ancien lycée après la mort suspecte de son camarade de chambre...
