Synopsis

Drawing from his own experiences as a volunteer in the Austro-Hungarian army during World War I, the novel provides a vivid and harrowing account of the horrors of war. Following the lives of soldiers from various backgrounds who find themselves thrust into the brutal reality of combat, it delves into the inner thoughts and struggles of these men as they grapple with fear, uncertainty, and the moral dilemmas of warfare. This anti-war novel is also a stark critique of the glorification of war and its devastating consequences on individuals and society.
