About the Author
Warren Ellis a débuté comme nombre de scénaristes anglais en écrivant quelques épisodes de « Judge Dredd » pour le magazine de BD britannique « 2000AD ». Bien vite, il attire l'attention des Américains et commence à oeuvrer pour « Marvel et DC Comics ». Emblématique de la « génération A. Moore », il se fait rapidement remarquer par la crudité de ses dialogues, par l'omniprésence de l'alcool et du sexe dans un univers habituellement très policé, et par une certaine distance générale avec le mythe du super-héros. Déjà acclamé pour son « Transmetropolitan », récit d'anticipation mettant en scène un journaliste gonzo en droite ligne d'Hunter Thompson, il revient sur le devant de la scène au début des années 2000 grâce à son « Authority » qui provoque un choc comparable à ce que fut « Watchmen » en son temps. Depuis, Ellis entretient une relation à distance avec les super-héros, y revenant de temps à autre, tout en prenant celui de développer des projets plus ambitieux, tel son « webcomic » « Freakangels ».
