Moscheles concertized with Liszt and Chopin, drew the admiration of Schumann, and served as pianistic mentor to Mendelssohn, who hired him as a teacher at Leipzig Conservatory in 1843. His études in particular are of lasting value. The 24 Studies (op. 70), composed in 1826, treat various difficulties such as passages in parallel thirds or two-voice figuration.
