The opera Naïs , which premiered on 22 April 1749 to celebrate the signing of the treaty of the so-called 'Peace of Aachen' at the Académie Royale in Paris and resumed in August 1764, shortly before Rameau's death, achieved great success as a peace opera, even if it was too The composer not appeared in print.
In numerous arias, Rameau offers his singers ample opportunity to shine while revealing his orchestral mastery, especially in the Chaconne and the various other ballets.
For the first time, the work appears here in the excerpt for the accompaniment by a keyboard instrument that allows singers, choir directors and all involved in stage productions easy access to the reliable score. The arrangement realized François Saint-Yves on the basis of the new Critical Edition of Pascal Denécheau, which appeared within the Opera Omnia Rameau under the direction of Sylvie Bouissou.
This edition is the fruit of a meticulous comparison of all known musical sources, and it presents in the main part the version Rameau declared valid in the performances in 1749. The appendices contain those passages that the composer stroked during rehearsals in 1749 as well as all the changes he implemented for the 1764 resumption.
- Baroque opera for the unification of Europe on the occasion of the 'Peace of Aachen'.
- First practical excerpt for accompaniment by a keyboard instrument.
