Synopsis

Opera Aria is a comprehensive repertoire collection of opera arias for all vocal genres from soprano to bass. It has been developed mainly for vocal training and theatre audition, but is also aimed at vocal singers and vocal educators already working professionally.

The selection of arias from three centuries of classical opera repertoires was made according to vocal criteria and taking into account musical and theatrical practical aspects. It also provides valuable suggestions for opera recitals.

The division of arias into the categories lyrical, lyrical-dramatic and dramatic serves as a guidance, but leaves enough scope for the individuality of the different voice and role types.

The decisive plus of Opera Aria over comparable repertoire collections is in its additional function as a well-informed vocal coach. The following extras are included:

  1. Detailed commentary part
All volumes offer information in the individual commentaries on each aria including on composer, work, composition or cast questions including a short, content summary, which places the aria in the plot context of the opera. In addition, there are methodical hints from a singing point of view as a recommendation from practice.
  2. Phonetics assistant
As another study aid, audio files (mp3) with aria texts spoken by native speakers are available.
  3. Text Assistant
For a more thorough understanding of aria content, the text assistant with text files (pdf) in German and English translation ensures a more thorough understanding of aria content.

Both the phonetics and text assistants are available for download at www.breitkopf.com.
