Synopsis
Best of Cello Classics contains 15 popular performance pieces for cello and piano from four centuries. The Baroque works also contain a continuo bass part.
Apart from standard works and 'classics' such as the famous sonatas by Breval (C major), de Fesch (D minor), Vivaldi (E minor) or Saint-Saëns' 'The Swan' from 'The Carnival of Animals', this volume also contains lesser known works, like Recercada primera by Ortiz, sonatas by Cirri and Romberg, as well as some charming little character pieces by Lee, Goltermann, Nölck and Trowell.
The majority of the works can, for the most part, be played in the first four positions. Some pieces containing a few notes in the neck positions are nevertheless easily playable as well.

Neben Standardwerken und 'Klassikern' wie den bekannten Sonaten von Breval (C-Dur), de Fesch (d-Moll), Vivaldi (e-Moll) oder Saint-Saëns Der Schwan aus Karneval der Tiere sind auch unbekanntere Werke enthalten - etwa die Recercada primera von Ortiz, Sonaten von Cirri und Romberg sowie einige bezaubernde kleine Charakterstücke von Lee, Goltermann, Nölck und Trowell. Die meisten Werke sind überwiegend in den ersten 4 Lagen ausführbar. Einige erwarten wenige Töne in den Halslagen, sind aber dennoch gut spielbar. Die Sammlung enthält viele schöne Stücke, mit der Pädagogen den Unterricht in der Mittelstufe attraktiv gestalten können. Neben fortgeschrittenen Schülern wendet sich das Heft auch an Liebhaber, die ein gewisses Niveau erreicht haben.
