The study models how Mycoplasma genitalium spreads through a population considering both drug-sensitive and drug-resistant strains. It analyzes transmission and shows that if the reproduction threshold is below 1, the disease dies out, but if it is above 1, the infection persists. In that case, either both strains coexist or the resistant strain dominates. The study also shows that excessive antibiotic use can reduce the sensitive strain but may increase resistance. It highlighted key factors affecting spread and stresses careful treatment to control the disease.
