Sarah Springham was born in 1952 in Hammersmith, London and was educated at the School of Oriental and African Studies, London University, and the Oriental Institute in Oxford. Sherlock Holmes stories were a source of inspiration to her as a child, and she has always had an abiding fascination with the natural world, possibly because she has always seen animals as people. She is a painter and has enjoyed international sales in this capacity. She is also a cartoonist and a writer (poetry as well as prose). She moved from London to Gozo in 2014, and lives with her husband Ian and the Gozo Cat Detectives.
