166pp , ABOUT THE AUTHOR :: Alonso Cueto (Lima, Peru , April 30, 1954 ) is a Peruvian writer . He has published novels very different styles, from black genre novel feelings. His work can be classified within the Peruvian realist and has been translated into English, German , Bulgarian and French. Son of Carlos Cueto Fernandini , philosopher and educator , and Lilly Caballero Elbers , educator. He is the eldest of three brothers. He spent his childhood in Paris and Washington, and seven years returned to Lima. He started schooling at the Lafayette School of Washington ( 1960-1961 ) and continued in the Carmelite College of Lima ( 1962-1970 ) . He studied literature at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru , from which he graduated in 1977. He then traveled to Spain grant from the Institute of Hispanic Culture to investigate the work of Luis Cernuda. In 1979 he entered the University of Texas, where he earned a doctorate in 1984 with a thesis on Juan Carlos Onetti . Cueto is one of the most prolific storytellers Peruvians not only by the natural frequency of his stories and novels , but because it has become a middle-class Lima in a space of fluid and passionate exploration. In his first book of stories The battle of the past, published in 1983 , which elegantly and accurately captured the casual and mundane life of exiles and cosmopolitans, proved to be a leading disciple of Henry James.1 Among his works that have been translated into many languages include The Blue Hour , which won the Herralde Prize and The Whale whisper woman finalist Planet- House of America. In late 2011 he published his first book for children: treasure tree . He has also worked as a journalist , working in various media , and university teaching. He has been editor Debate ( 1985 ) and supplements section of the newspaper El Comercio (1995 ) and professor of courses in biochemistry at the Catholic University ( since 1988 intermittently ) , and the Universidad Peruana de Cien
