Synopsis
This book deals with current issues in music research. Written in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, it is divided into three main parts that focus on: copyright; discourse, power and memory; local and transnational music processes. In the first part, Anthony Seeger, Laurent Aubert and Carlo Nardi question the effectiveness of current copyright laws and discuss the possible contribution of music research in dealing with problems of authorship and copyright. In the second part, Pedro Nunes, Irma Ruiz and Isabel Ferrer Senabre illustrate the increasing interest of ethnomusicologists in the intersection between music and power, with subjects ranging from the popular music press in Portugal and memories of music in Spain to indigenous performances in Argentina and Brazil. In the third part, Luciana Prass, Katherine Brucher and Javier Campos Calvo-Sotelo address the global and local circulation of music, its social and political role, issues of representation, and politically engaged ethnomusicology, focusing on contemporary Brazil, Portugal, and transnational phenomena like "Celtic music.". (.) , é possível constatar que o Seminário contou com visões muito diferentes sobre o pós-colonial, do medievalismo literário problemática das identidades decorrentes de (re)agenciamentos históricos pós-coloniais e pós-imperiais. Com efeito, os estudos pós-coloniais, ao darem ênfase afirmação da diferença (colectiva e individual), privilegiam não apenas a produção da subjectividade como o reconhecimento das "subjectividades maginalizadas" da História. (.). No caso da produção literária de países marcados pela situação colonial (tanto do ponto de vista metropolitano quanto do império), a experiência memorativa, ao fazer da memória um dos fortes temas que a fertilizam, instiga a retomada e revisão de questões relacionadas com as ideias de nação, nacionalismo, identidade, colonialidade e pós-colonialidade. Ao se voltarem para as intensas transformações provocadas pela invasão dos recursos tecnológicos, e por arranjos e mesclagens, que se mostram de forma significativa em diferentes "locais de cultura", os relatos memorialistas e outras expressões culturais produzidas nessas geografias propiciam o contacto com agenciamentos e articulações que se efectivam no campo de diferentes linguagens.
