About the Authors

Bhakti Mathur lives in Hong Kong with her husband, their two sons, and two dogs. After a long stint as a banker, she now juggles her time between writing, teaching yoga, executive coaching and bibliotherapy.

Bhakti is a children’s book author with 21 published titles to date. She started the ‘Amma Tell Me’ Series in 2011 as a means to share with her children, the stories from Hindu mythology that had mesmerised her as a child. Written in rhyme and vividly illustrated, the series endeavours to keep the tradition of oral storytelling alive and create a special moment between a parent and child. Bhakti is also the author of the ‘Amma Take Me’ Series (published by Penguin Random House, India).

Bhakti is also a freelance journalist and chronicles inspirational people and their journeys through life, health and fitness for the South China Morning Post. When not writing or running after her teenagers, Bhakti is happiest curled up with a book in one hand and a hot cup of chai in the other.

 



Bhakti Mathur is the author of the 'Amma Tell Me' and 'Amma Take Me' series of children’s books about Indian mythology and history, with 18 published titles to date. After a long stint as a banker, she now juggles her time between writing, practicing yoga, and with her family. She lives in Hong Kong with her husband, their two children, and two dogs. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from the University of Hong Kong and is a freelance journalist with over 88 published articles in the South China Morning Post on life, health, and fitness. Bhakti is an ICF credentialed (ACC) executive coach and a bibliotherapist. When not writing or running after her boys, Bhakti is happiest curled up with a book in one hand and a hot cup of chai in the other.

Bhakti Mathur grew up in Delhi, India. She lives in Hong Kong, a city that she absolutely adores, with her husband, her two sons, Shiv and Veer, and their beloved golden Labrador, Frodo. She is a banker by profession and currently works for a major Asian Bank.Bhakti’s love for books started from a young age. Her mother was a librarian and as a child she landed up spending many hours in the library—books proved to be great and inexpensive baby sitters! The idea for the 'Amma, Tell Me' series of books came as a way to introduce her sons to Indian mythology and festivals.When not writing, working or running after her boys, she is happiest curled up with a book and a hot cup of chai.
