About the Author
Álex Grijelmo (Burgos, 1956) es doctor en Periodismo por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid y titulado en alta dirección de empresas (PADE) por el IESE. Trabajó en el diario La voz de Castilla, en la agencia Europa Press y, durante 16 años, en El País. Coordinó la edición del Libro de estilo de ese periódico (1988), y ha escrito El estilo del periodista (1997), Defensa apasionada del idioma español (1998), La seducción de las palabras (2000), La punta de la lengua (2004), El genio del idioma (2004), La gramática descomplicada (2006), Palabras moribundas (2011), en colaboración con Pilar G. Mouton, y La información del silencio (2012). Fue responsable periodístico de los medios de Prisa en América, dirigió la agencia Efe (2004-2012) y en 2007 fue elegido presidente del Consejo Mundial de Agencias para un mandato de tres años. En 1999 recibió el premio nacional de periodismo Miguel Delibes, y en 2006 el honorary degree de la fundación universitaria ESERP por su gestión empresarial, así como la Antena de Oro de la Asociación de Profesionales de Radio y Televisión por sus colaboraciones sobre lenguaje en el programa de RNE No es un día cualquiera, que dirige Pepa Fernández. En 2012 se reincorporó a Prisa Noticias como director de Desarrollo Internacional, y actualmente es adjunto al director de El País y columnista del periódico con su sección La punta de la lengua.
