Synopsis

The site of Horbat Rosh Zayit is located on a narrow ridge near the mountains of Lower Galilee and is referred to as a fortified public storehouse performing a variety of functions. Excavated in the 1980s and early 1990s, this report on the findings includes discussions of the structures, stratigraphy and the small finds, including a wide variety of different pottery types, stone tools and vessels, clay seals, iron and bone objects. The distribution of these objects was then used to reconstruct the function of different parts of the building during the 10th and 9th centuries BC.
