This book offers basic guidelines on writing effectively for academic purposes. About the Author

Pedro Pak-tao Ng obtained his Doctor of Education (in sociology of education) from Harvard University in 1971. He was a visiting scholar at Clare Hall of the University of Cambridge as a recipient of the Leverhulme Fellowship and for more than thirty years he has been on the faculty of the Department of Sociology of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Keen to help students improve their English academic writing skills, he has been teaching ""Research Writing"" to sociology students since 1995. In the 1970s and 1980s, he contributed to the compilation of the first and revised editions of A Glossary of Sociological Terms (The Chinese University Press).
